May Favourites

Finally, my first monthly favourites post! May has been a pretty hectic one, but not hectic enough to stop me falling in love with some wonderful beauty and fashion items.  This month I was also able to attend a few blogger (and non-blogger) events which were all so exciting, including the Urban Food Fest blogger meetup, The Body Shop summer product launch and I even attended Comic Con and Beauty Con in one day! Here are some photos that sum up my month of May:

Okay enough of my face - let's get on to some products!

1. Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude foundation

This foundation was recommended to me at the end of April and I have not reached for any other foundation since! It's a medium coverage with SPF 20 but it never looks cakey and smooths out the complexion of my skin perfectly. I can see this staying as a favourite for a VERY long time. You can see it in action in my Get Ready With Me post here.

2. The Body Shop Vitamin C Moisturiser

I received this moisturiser in a goody bag after an event for The Body Shop's summer product launches and I've really been enjoying using it every morning! It smells so refreshing and lovely, I'll be doing a full review about it in a week or so, so watch this space!

3. Collection Work The Colour Eyebrow Kit

I'm not going to lie, I'm naturally pretty lucky with my eyebrows (despite them being much darker than my natural hair colour - but that's "in" now, right?) and I have never really filled them in until this year.  This Collection eyebrow kit - retailing at £2.99 - comes with three powder eyebrow colours, a double-sided brush and a clear eyebrow mascara, and I honestly cannot fault it.  I use a mixture of the light and medium shade and it gives a lovely subtle definition to my brows.

4. Essie nail polishes

I was introduced to the wonder that is Essie earlier this month and OH MY GOD WHY HAVE I NOT OWNED ANY OF THESE POLISHES UNTIL NOW. I've known about the brand for so long but always thought Essie can't be much better than my budget nail polishes.  I was SO wrong. Although I'm still not prepared to spend £7.99 on every nail polish I buy from here on out, I'll definitely be buying some more staple colours from the brand.  See my comparison post with Rimmel's £2.99 nail polishes here.

5. Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss Pots

Quite an unusual one for me I think - a family friend bought me a set of three of these for Christmas, but I've only just started using them.  I have to say though, I am so impressed!  I love to wear these when I just cannot be bothered to wear a lipstick or I have quite dry lips.  They're very moisturising and give a lovely "my lips but better" colour. I'm not a massive lip gloss lover but these are just so easy to use and pop in my handbag! They'r pretty affordable too!

6. Topshop Joni Jeans

A quick fashion favourite to finish with - my DIY ripped Joni jeans! I live in my black Joni jeans - so much so that I bought two pairs. I bought them both second hand off Depop at around £15 each.  One pair ripped slightly in the leg so I thought instead of just throwing them out I'd make it look purposeful! These jeans are just so comfortable and I love flashing a bit of leg skin (lol) coming up to summer!

Have you written a May favourites post? I love reading them so please leave a link in the comments below!

  4. You can get Essie polishes cheaper on fragrancedirect.com - I think they're about £1.99? Great if you want to expand your collection but don't have a specific shade in mind! :) x
